Hi, it’s Tim here…
Quick question for you:
When was the last time your doctor cold-called you for an appointment?
Never. Right?
Doctors don’t chase patients. Patients find doctors.
We trust them, we listen to them, and we pay them what they ask.
Why?
Because a doctor is positioned as an expert. We believe in them before we even walk in the door.
This is called Positioning.
The opposite is what most of us do:
Chasing.
- Cold calls.
- Emails that get ignored.
- Shouting into the void at networking events.
- Hoping someone, anyone, will pay attention.
Sound familiar? It’s not just tiring.
It’s a broken way to do business.
Why Chasing Feels So Awful
When you chase someone, you’re starting from zero.
- You’re an interruption. They weren’t expecting you. Their guard goes up immediately.
- There’s no trust. You’re just another salesperson. You have to spend all your energy proving you’re not trying to trick them.
- It’s a numbers game you can’t win. You burn through time and energy, all for a few lukewarm replies. It feels awful because it is.
- You have to compete on price. When you chase, you signal you need the business. This leads to haggling and clients who don’t respect your work.
Chasing is an uphill battle.
It’s pushing a boulder.
The Alternative: Be the Positioned Expert
Positioning flips everything around. You stop pushing and start pulling.
You attract.
When you’re positioned as the expert:
- They come to you. The right clients find you when they have a problem you can solve.
- Trust is already there. They’ve seen your work or read your ideas. They already believe you can help.
- The sale is just a conversation. You’re not trying to convince anyone. You’re just seeing if it’s a good fit.
- You don’t have to haggle. Experts get paid for their expertise. It’s expected.
- It works while you sleep. This isn’t about ego. It’s about building a simple system that brings people to you, so you can focus on doing the work you love.
How to Make the Shift
This isn’t magic. It’s just a different way of thinking.
1. Teach, Don’t Pitch.
Stop selling. Start being useful.
Share your best ideas.
Answer the questions people are already asking themselves. When you teach generously, you demonstrate your expertise.
You become a resource, not a salesperson.
2. Package Your Best Advice.
Don’t just scatter your ideas. Put them together in one helpful place.
A simple guide, a checklist, or the most powerful tool of all: a short, helpful book.
A book makes you an authority instantly.
It gives massive value and builds incredible trust.
3. Make It Easy for Them to Find You.
You can be the best in the world, but it doesn’t matter if you’re invisible.
Put up a simple website. Share your helpful content.
Make it easy for people looking for your solution to find it.
Let them raise their hand.
No more chasing.
The Choice is Simple
You can keep pushing the boulder uphill. Chasing. Feeling tired.
Or you can let the current bring people to you. Attracting. Feeling energized.
The entire game changes when you stop being a salesperson and start being the trusted authority.
Want the Blueprint for This?
I took this entire idea and turned it into a step-by-step system.
It’s in my new book, The Automatic Lead Machine.
It shows you exactly how to package your expertise into a short book and build a simple system around it to attract a steady stream of your ideal clients.
If you’re tired of chasing and ready to become the go-to expert in your field, this is how you do it.
Stop pushing. Start pulling.
You’ll be amazed at the difference.
Best,
Tim
